Former Bengals S Taylor Mays Suspended An Additional Four Games

Howard Balzer reports that former Bengals S Taylor Mays has, in fact, been suspended four more games, which brings his ban up to eight games.

Even with another drug suspension, Ian Rapoport reported that if Mays is ready to play after his latest suspensions, the Bengals haven’t ruled out re-signing him.

Over the weekend, the Bengals surprisingly cut Mays loose, despite signing him as a free agent several months ago.

Mays, 25, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He lasted just over year in San Francisco before he was traded to the Bengals. After four years with the Bengals, Mays signed a one-year contract with the Raiders last year.

The Bengals elected to re-sign him to a one-year, $840,000 contract back in March only to cut him loose over the weekend in a move that cleared $855,000 in available cap space.

In 2015, Mays appeared in 14 games and recorded 26 tackles and five pass defenses for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 63 safety out of 88 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
