Jaguars Releasing Veteran WR Allen Hurns

Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars are releasing WR Allen Hurns on Tuesday. According to Schefter, Hurns should have a strong market for his services in the coming days.

The Jaguars allowed Allen Robinson to depart in free agency, re-signed Marqise Lee and gave Donte Moncrief a fully guaranteed contract and have now moved on from Hurns.

Hurns, 26, signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2014. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $40.6 million deal that included $20 million guaranteed in 2016.

Hurns was set to make base salaries of $6.9 million and $7.9 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Hurns will free up $7 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Hurns appeared in 10 games for the Jaguars and caught 39 passes for 484 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
