NFL Notes: Los Angeles, Colts, Cowboys, Panthers, Steelers

Los Angeles

An unnamed Chargers official tells Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal that they will consider all of their options when it comes to protecting the future of the franchise.

“The Rams voluntarily left the Los Angeles and Orange County markets, and some owners may question whether they deserve to return — especially if it means that the stadium situations of the two California teams remain unresolved,” said the unnamed official.

The Chargers are continuing to work hard to find a solution in San Diego, but the team also has a close eye on developments in L.A.,” the unnamed official said.  “It would be irresponsible for the Chargers not to be taking every possible step to protect the future of the franchise.”

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk interprets this as an indication that the Chargers could sue the Rams if they force a relocation to Los Angeles.

Colts

  • Mike Garafolo reports that Colts offensive assistant Rob Chudzinski is “getting a lot of play” among coaching candidates as a potential offensive coordinator.
  • Garafolo adds that Chudzinski would be promoted to offensive coordinator if Pep Hamilton gets a head-coaching job.
