Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders are close to signing free agent LB Tahir Whitehead to a contract.
- According to Michael Gehlken, Whitehead receives a three-year contract worth over $6 million annually.
Whitehead took his first visit to Oakland on Thursday and it appears as though they could have a deal in place at some point in the near future.
Whitehead, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2012. He has played out his rookie contract before agreeing to a two-year deal worth more than $8M with Detroit back in 2016.
Whitehead is currently testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017, Whitehead appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and recorded 110 tackles, one sack, an interception, four fumble recoveries and two pass defenses.
