Saints Could Face Discipline From The NFL For Stashing LB Todd Davis After He Was Cut

NFL spokesman Michael Signora tells ESPN’s Mike Triplett that the Saints were in compliance regarding their handling of LB Todd Davis after he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Broncos.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is looking into whether Saints illegally stashed LB Todd Davis in their training facility after they released him earlier in the week.

The Broncos wound up claiming him off of waivers, but according to Schefter, the Saints kept him in team meetings at their training facility on Thursday.

Denver was hoping to bring Davis in on Friday for practice, but they reportedly couldn’t get hold of him because he was in meetings with the Saints.

The NFL is now looking into the situation and the Saints could face a “stiff fine” for keeping Davis in team meetings after he was claimed by another team.

It’s worth mentioning that Davis met with the Broncos in St. Louis on Saturday.

Davis, 22, is an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State, but he had been waived and later re-signed on numerous occasions this season. Davis has appeared in three games and recorded three tackles in 2014.
