Steelers Hosting CB Davon House For Visit Tuesday

Update:

The Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed that they’re hosting free agent CB Davon House for a visit Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that free agent CB Davon House is heading to Pittsburgh to visit with the Steelers on Monday. According to Rapoport, House’s market is “heating up.”

Last we heard, Bill Huber of the PackersReport.com reported that House would be signing soon with a team, but it won’t be with the Packers. Green Bay had been in contact with his reps about a return to Green Bay there was reportedly “mutual interest” between the two parties.

However, it sounds like the Packers will have to look elsewhere for cornerback help.

As for the Steelers, they’ve clearly been shopping around for value in free agency this offseason and cornerback is an obvious area of need. It’s possible that House could prove to be a good value signing for them or another team.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.

House, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Packers back in 2011. He spent four years in Green Bay before signing a four-year, $24.5 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Jaguars back in 2015.

House was set to make base salaries of $6 million over the final two years of the agreement when the Jaguars released him in a move that freed up $6 million of available cap space.

In 2016, House appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 17 tackles and no sacks or interceptions. Pro Football Focus rates House as a below-average cornerback last year while playing 272 snaps for the Jaguars.

We’ll have more regarding where House will end up as the news is available.
