Steelers Restructure WR Antonio Brown’s Contract, Create $9.7M Of Cap Room

Steelers WR Antonio Brown posted on Instagram that he has restructured his contract and fully guaranteed his 2018 salary in order to free up some space for Pittsburgh to use this offseason.

  • According to Tom Pelissero, this move creates $9.7 million of 2018 cap space for the Steelers.

This will help cover the cost of RB Le’Veon Bell‘s $14.5 million franchise tender.

Brown, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He’s currently in the first year of his five-year, $72.71 million contract that included a $19 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $7.875 million and $12.625 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Brown had appeared in 14 games and caught 101 passes for 1,533 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 1 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
