Texans Expected To Start T.J. Yates At QB In Week 15

On Monday, Texans HC Bill O’Brien told reporters that he believes QB T.J. Yates will start for them against the Jaguars in Week 15.

O’Brien added that he’s still unsure as to who will be their backup quarterback.

This doesn’t come as a big surprise, considering that Tom Savage is in the concussion protocol.

Yates, 30, is a former fifth-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He spent three years in Houston before he was traded to the Falcons for Akeem Dent. The Falcons later brought him back on a one-year contract before cutting him loose at the start of the 2015 season.

The Texans signed him to their roster and he finished out the year in Houston. Yates missed all of the 2016 season before he joined the Dolphins for a brief stint.

The Bills signed Yates to a contract this past March only to place him on injured reserve and later release him with a settlement a few weeks into the regular season. The Texans signed him to a contract after they lose Deshaun Watson for the season with an ACL tear.

In 2017, Yates has appeared in one game completed 14-of-26 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
