2024 NFL Power Rankings: Week 8

And then there was one. Kansas City is now the only undefeated team in the NFL. Week 7 had plenty of exciting action, with several high-profile matchups in the 1 pm window on Sunday.

It’s still early, but the NFC wildcard race is shaping up to be intense and down to the wire. The Buccaneers, Falcons, Seahawks, 49ers, Commanders and Eagles โ€” plus the entire NFC North โ€” are strong contenders at this point in the season. Only four of those teams will win their respective divisions. There are three spots for the rest of them, and that doesn’t even include a handful of other teams that could work their way back into the mix.

1 โ€” Kansas City Chiefs (6-0, โ€”)

The lone remaining undefeated team put on their best performance of the season, getting a comfortable road win over the 49ers. Itโ€™s the first time in his already storied career that QB Patrick Mahomes is 6-0.

2 โ€” Detroit Lions (5-1, up 2)

Lions QB Jared Goff has been executing this offense flawlessly these last few weeks. After a rocky start to the season, Goff is starting to get a little MVP talk.

3 โ€” Baltimore Ravens (5-2, up 2)

A dominating win in Tampa Bay is one of the most impressive wins of the season. Donโ€™t look now, but the Ravens are riding a five-game winning streak.

4 โ€” Minnesota Vikings (5-1, down 2)

Minnesota dominated the first quarter but couldnโ€™t keep that momentum going, as they eventually fell to the Lions at home. Sam Darnold continues to exceed expectations as the Vikingsโ€™ starter.

5 โ€” Buffalo Bills (5-2, up 1)

Newly acquired WR Amari Cooper provided a jolt to the Bills’ offense as they steamrolled past the Titans. A few more weeks to integrate into the system and Cooper might provide even more.

6 โ€” Green Bay Packers (5-2, up 2)

The Packers get a walk-off field goal to secure the home win over the Texans. The NFC North race is already insane.

7 โ€” Houston Texans (5-2, down 4)

Poor clock management and an off day from QB C.J. Stroud led to a loss in Green Bay. The Texans will need to learn to manufacture a passing attack while WR Nico Collins is on injured reserve.

8 โ€” Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3, down 1)

A fast start gave way to a blowout loss at home to the Ravens. Itโ€™s a tough week in Tampa Bay, but they still control their destiny in the NFC South.

9 โ€” Washington Commanders (5-2, up 2)

The entire city of Washington held their collective breath when rookie sensation Jayden Daniels left the game with a rib injury, but backup Marcus Mariota stepped right in under center and kept this offense cooking. Mariota hadnโ€™t looked this good since some of his early days in Tennessee.

10 โ€” San Francisco 49ers (3-4, down 1)

The highly anticipated rematch of last yearโ€™s Super Bowl fell a little flat, as the 49ers couldnโ€™t muster much against the defending champs. Injuries are starting to pile up for this squad, as now WR Brandon Aiyuk is done for the year.

11 โ€” Seattle Seahawks (4-3, up 1)

The Seahawks needed a bounce-back in the worst way, and they got it in Atlanta. With San Franciscoโ€™s loss, Seattle now sits alone atop the NFC West.

12 โ€” Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2, up 5)

What a performance. Russell Wilson got his first start in Pittsburgh and led a decent offensive attack. George Pickens is the perfect receiver for Wilson at this stage of his career.

13 โ€” Atlanta Falcons (4-3, down 3)

The Falcons had a chance to bury the reeling Seahawks and get an important home win, but ultimately didnโ€™t have the firepower to hang with Seattle’s high-flying offense.

14 โ€” Indianapolis Colts (4-3, down 1)

It was the ugliest of ugly wins, but Indianapolis got it done at home against the Dolphins. A big opportunity awaits in Week 8, as the Colts travel to Houston with a chance to pull even in the AFC South.

15 โ€” Cincinnati Bengals (3-4, down 1)

For the second week in a row, the Bengals didnโ€™t impress but still managed to secure the win. Given Cincinnati started the year 1-4, they wonโ€™t be picky about how they come by these wins.

16 โ€” Chicago Bears (4-2, down 1)

The Bears were on bye this week and travel to Washington in Week 8.

17 โ€” Philadelphia Eagles (4-2, down 1)

Whatโ€™s the remedy for a dysfunctional team needing to sort some stuff out? Why, a trip to New York to play the Giants, of course!

18 โ€” Arizona Cardinals (3-3, up 2)

Arizona eked out a win against the Chargers, scoring touchdowns and forcing Los Angeles to settle for field goals. This team goes as QB Kyler Murray goes and Monday night was a good night for him.

19 โ€” Los Angeles Rams (2-4, up 2)

The Rams needed a win, and they got one, albeit over the Raiders. A quick turnaround before a Thursday night game against the Vikings now awaits. Los Angeles hopes to have WR Cooper Kupp back for that one.

20 โ€” Los Angeles Chargers (3-3, up 2)

This should have been a game where the ground-and-pound Chargers exerted their will over an overmatched Arizona defense. Instead, an inability to punch in a touchdown doomed Los Angeles to a setback.

21 โ€” Denver Broncos (4-3, up 2)

Maybe the Saints are just that bad, but it was an impressive performance for Denver nonetheless. Broncos HC Sean Payton is showing us all heโ€™s still got it.

22 โ€” New York Jets (2-5, down 4)

Weโ€™ll have to wait to see how the Davante Adams trade plays out, but as it stands, maybe it wasnโ€™t such a great idea to turn your entire franchise over to an old, stubborn quarterback and all his friends.

23 โ€” Dallas Cowboys (3-3, up 1)

The Cowboys were on bye this week and travel to San Francisco in Week 8.

24 โ€” Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5, up 8)

A comfortable win over the Patriots in London buys this coaching staff another week or two. If they want to keep their jobs longer than that, more wins need to come quickly.

25 โ€” Tennessee Titans (1-5, โ€”)

Mason Rudolph was announced late in the week as the starter at quarterback over Will Levis, whoโ€™s dealing with a shoulder injury. More of the same for the Titans, though.

26 โ€” Miami Dolphins (2-4, โ€”)

Tua Tagovailoa should be back in Week 8. Hold on to that, Dolphins fans.

27 โ€” New Orleans Saints (2-5, down 8)

The Saints need to get healthy, and fast. A 2-0 start is long in the rearview mirror as this season is rapidly slipping away.

28 โ€” Las Vegas Raiders (2-5, down 1)

Aidan Oโ€™Connell left with a broken thumb in the first half and Gardner Minshew threw three interceptions in his stead. The silver lining here for Las Vegas is that they should finally be in prime position to draft a new quarterback come April.

29 โ€” New York Giants (2-5, down 1)

The Giants allowed eight sacks on Sunday, and honestly, they should have allowed more. Daniel Jones had no time to throw, and on the few occasions he did, he wasnโ€™t accurate.

30 โ€” Carolina Panthers (1-6, down 1)

The Week 3 win with Andy Dalton is a fading memory at this point. The Panthers are firmly in the sweepstakes for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

31 โ€” New England Patriots (1-6, down 1)

Rookie QB Drake Maye continues to look really good. Thatโ€™s all this season is about for New England, and heโ€™s off to a great start.

32 โ€” Cleveland Browns (1-6, down 1)

Deshaun Watson is done for the season with a torn Achilles, opening the door for backup Jameis Winston to get some run. This teamโ€™s issues go far beyond Watson, and I donโ€™t believe Winston can lead this team on a run.
