Update:
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan confirmed that he has been told DE Ziggy Ansah has a torn biceps that will require season-ending surgery.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the 49ers fear DE Ziggy Ansah suffered a biceps tear during Sunday’s loss to the Eagles.
Ansah is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the issue.
Either way, there appears to be a decent enough chance that Ansah will be headed to injured reserve.
Ansah, 31, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick by the Lions back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $18.595 million rookie contract before the Lions picked up his fifth-year option.
Ansah made a base salary $12.7 million for the 2017 season before the Lions used the franchise tag that cost them around $17.5 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season. He left after the year and signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks for the 2019 season.
The 49ers signed Ansah to a contract a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Ansah appeared in 11 games for the Seahawks and recorded 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two recoveries and two pass defenses.
