Jeremy Fowler reports that 49ers WR Travis Benjamin is opting out of the 2020 season.
Benjamin is the first 49ers’ player to out-out of the upcoming season.
Benjamin, 30, was taken in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Browns. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.577 million rookie contract and signed on with the Chargers in 2016.
Last offseason, Benjamin signed a one-year extension through the 2020 season that included a $3 million signing bonus and reduced his 2019 base salary to $1 million.
He signed a one-year contract with the 49ers back in March.
In 2019, Benjamin appeared in five games for the Chargers and caught six passes for 30 yards before landing on injured reserve.
