Browns
Browns HC Hue Jackson tellsย Albert Breer of TheMMQB.comย that he’s not even thinking about the possibility of No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield opening the season as their starting quarterback over Tyrod Taylor.
โThatโs not in my mind,” Jackson said. “Whatโs in my mind is Tyrodโs our starter. We have two very capable players, one in Drew Stanton, who also has a ton of experience, and we have a young, emerging quarterback thatโs got a lot of work to do, and has to learn a lot. I donโt want to put a ceiling on any player, but I already know where our pecking order is. And again, Iโve said this before, Iโm not going to stop him from being the best version of him, Iโm not going to stop him from working extremely hard. I just want to do everything I can so when he goes out to play for the Cleveland Browns, whenever that is, heโll know and heโll be ready to play.โ
Colts
Former Colts HC Chuck Pagano mentioned during an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he expects QB Andrew Luck to be “backย and better than ever” this year.
“Andrew Luck is going to be back and better than ever, ” Pagano said. “I know it. It absolutely killed him not to be out there on the field because he’s a top competitor, great teammate, and a great player.
Texans
Texans WRs coach John Perry believes WR Braxton Miller, who is competing with rookie Keke Coutee for playing time at slot receiver, isย โon the right pathโ in his third year with the team.
โBraxton came in with aย good attitudeย this spring,โ Perry said, via John McClain of theย Houston Chronicle. โI think he realizes and understands what weโre asking him to do. I think it was a very difficult transition doing what he did, coming from college and trying to jump into the NFL and get into the wide receiver position.
โI think heโs taken a great approach this offseason. Heโs been able to be competitive on a daily basis, and you can see his skill set really improving day to day, and Iโm hoping that just continues because if it does, then heโs on the right path.โ
