AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs

Broncos

• Mike Klis reports that the Broncos and LB Aldon Smith had mutual interest, prior to him signing with the Cowboys last week.
• Klis notes that the Broncos made a vet-minimum, incentive-laden offer to Smith, which fell well short of the deal he got from the Cowboys.
• Jordan Reid reports that Louisville OT Mekhi Becton recently had FaceTime meetings with the Jets, Browns, Chargers, and Buccaneers this week.
• Ryan O’Halloran of the Denver Post mentions Michigan State CB Josiah Scott, San Diego State C Keith Ismael and Texas WR Devin Duvernay as three prospects to watch for the Broncos in round three.

Chargers

• Jordan Reid reports that Louisville OT Mekhi Becton recently had FaceTime meetings with the Jets, Browns, Chargers, and Buccaneers this week.
• Turron Davenport reports that West Virginia CB Keith Washington had video interviews with the Jets and Chargers. Other teams that have expressed the most interest include the Rams, Browns, Panthers, and Titans.

Chiefs

• According to Matt Miller of B/R, many league sources believe the Chiefs will draft another weapon for Patrick Mahomes to utilize instead of addressing some defensive needs such as cornerback and linebacker.
• In fact, Miller says it would not be surprising to see Kansas City trade out of round one and look to get a running back such as LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
• Matt Verderame lists LT Eric Fisher ($11M cap savings), G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif ($7M), DE Alex Okafor ($5.95M) and QB Chad Henne ($1.2M) as potential cap casualties for the Chiefs in 2021.
