Chicago used the original-round restricted tender on Callahan, which will cost them $1.907 for the 2018 season.
Callahan, 25, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in May of 2015. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed him to the team’s practice squad before later being called up.
The Bears re-signed him on a one-year deal last year as an exclusive rights free agent.
In 2017, Callahan appeared in 12 games for the Bears and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and six pass defenses. He also recorded 59 punt return yards and scored one touchdown.
