Bengals Elevating DT Freedom Akinmoladun & S Trayvon Henderson To Active Roster

The Bengals announced they have elevated DT Freedom Akinmoladun and S Trayvon Henderson to the active roster for Thursday night’s game against the Browns.

Both players will return to the practice squad after the game without passing through waivers. Teams can designate two players a week for this mechanism for up to two times per player. After that, they are subject to waivers to go back to the practice squad.

Akinmoladun, 24, signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska following rookie minicamp. He signed a three-year, $1.755 million contracts but was waived and signed to the practice squad.

After the Giants cut Akinmoladun from the practice squad, he caught on with the Bengals to their practice squad and was later signed to the active roster. He was waived and signed to the practice squad coming out of camp this year.

He appeared in two games for the Bengals in 2019.

During his college career at Nebraska, Akinmoladun recorded 106 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses over the course of four seasons and 42 games.
