ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Buffalo Bills have agreed to re-sign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a six-year deal worth $59 million which in $24 million in guaranteed money.
This is a pretty big contract for guy that wasn’t sure if he’d be with the team much longer than the 2011 season. Buffalo wasย initiallyย reluctant to lockup Fitzpatrick but his early performance drove up his asking price and it got to the point where they were either going to have to commit to him now or risk losing him during free agency. Then again they always could have franchised him but the tag for quarterbacks is so astronomical that it would have been better for them to reach a deal right now.
