Bills Lose S Jonathan Dowling & TE Chris Gragg To Torn ACLs

Bills HC Rex Ryan announced thatย Sย Jonathan Dowling and TE Chris Gragg both sustained torn ACLs duringย Friday’s preseason game, per Vic Carruci.

Both players will almost certainly be placed on injured reserve in the coming days, as the Bills look to trim their roster down 75 players before Tuesday’s deadline.

Dowling, 24, was taken in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Raidersย out ofย Western Kentucky.ย His rookie season was cut short after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve in December of 2014.

Last year, the Raiders cut him loose back in late August before he later caught on with the Dolphinsย at the start of the season. After being on andย off of the Miami’sย practice squad, the Bills signed Dowling to their taxi squad and later brought him back on a future/reserve contract.

In 2014, Dowling appeared inย seven games and recorded four tackles while playing a total of 13 snaps, according Pro Football Focus.
