Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports reported that some people in the Minnesota Vikings organization believed that head coach Brad Childress could have been let go in favor of defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier if they had lost to the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago.
This would have been to most surprising turn of events given that Childress received a contract extension during the offseason. Silver goes on to suggest that Childress could still be replaced if the teams loses to the Patriots this weekend.
Childress’s recent comments could be an indication that he is aware of the pressure that he is facing. The Minnesota Vikings have made it clear that they are willing to do whatever it takes to go as far as they can this season and have already traded to Randy Moss so a coaching change cannot be ruled out at this point. Keep in mind that the Vikings are playing for more than a playoff berth this season, the team is trying to secure a deal with the city for a new stadium that will keep the team in Minnesota. Sunday’s will likely be the most interesting game of the week given that so much is riding on it for the Vikings.
