Browns Promote LB Deon King, Place LB Dominique Alexander On IR

The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday that they’ve promoted LB Deon King to the active roster and placed LB Dominique Alexander on injured reserve.

  • The Browns also signed LB Austin Calitro and WR Rannell Hall to the practice squad and released LB Garrett Sickels from the unit.

The Browns’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE J.P. Holtz
  2. RB Terrence Magee
  3. OL Travis Averill
  4. CB Darius Hillary
  5. OT Zach Sterup
  6. DB C.J. Smith
  7. DE Tyron Holmes
  8. WR Bug Howard
  9. LB Austin Calitro
  10. WR Rannell Hall

King, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Norfolk State back in May. He was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad a day later.

The Colts claimed King off of waivers from the Chargers last November before waiving him just a few days after this year’s NFL draft. The Browns signed him to a contract this summer before waiving him coming out of the preseason and eventually adding him to their practice squad.

In 2016, King appeared in six games for the Chargers and Colts and recorded two tackles and no sacks.

During his college career, King recorded 372 tackles, 52.5 tackles for a loss, 22 sacks, four forced fumbles, five recoveries and six pass defenses
