According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Browns haven’t completely moved on fromย WR Josh Gordon, who is currentlyย serving a one-year suspension for multiple violations of the league’s drug and alcohol policy.
Fowler reports thatย aย Browns official has corresponded with suspend WR Josh Gordon this offseason.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tells Fowler that theyย allowย teams to contact a suspended player only through a player-engagement rep.
Gordon’s agent, Drewย Rosenhaus, mentioned a few weeks ago thatย Gordon hasย up to 10 drug or alcohol tests monthly.
“It’s a difficult process, and it’s meant to be difficult, obviously,” Rosenhaus told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “But I’ve got faith in him, and he’ll get through this tough time and he still has a very bright future in the NFL, in my opinion.”
Gordon, 24, would have had just one moreย year remaining on hisย four-year, $5.342 million rookie contractย that$3.8 million included guaranteed.
However, Gordon’s suspensionย will prevent himย fromย becoming an unrestricted free agent after the 2015 season.
Ian Rapoportย mentioned a while backย that Gordon’s suspensionย will keep be under contract through the 2016 season, at which point, heโll justย be a restricted free agent.
In 2014,ย Gordon appeared in five games and caught 24 passes for 303 yards receiving, but didn’t score aย touchdown.
