Browns Sign Three Including TE Orson Charles, Waive DL Trenton Thompson

The Cleveland Browns announced Monday that they’ve signed DB Christian Boutte, TE Orson Charles and DB Jeremiah McKinnon to contracts and placed DL Trenton Thompson on waivers.

Charles, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He lasted just over two years in Cincinnati before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later signed on to the Titans’ practice squad.

The Saints gave him a shot the following year but he was cut loose at the start of the 2015 season. After a brief stint with the Lions, the Chiefs signed Charles to a contract last summer, but cut him loose coming out of the preseason. He was on and off of their practice squad this season before being promoted in November.

The Chiefs elected to cut Charles loose this past May.

In 2017, Charles appeared in five games and caught two passes for 53 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
