Browns Sign WR Phil Bates To Practice Squad

The Cleveland Browns are signing former Seahawks WR Phil Bates to their practice squad, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.

  • Aaron Wilson adds that Cleveland released Marcus Cromartie from their practice squad.

Seattle placed on Bates on waivers Tuesday, but he wound up going unclaimed today.

Bates, 24, originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio back in 2012. He spent most of his rookie season on Seattle’s practice squad before he signed a reserve/future contract in February.

He has appeared in one games this season, but has yet to record a single statistic.
