Browns Waive LB Austin Calitro

The Cleveland Browns officially placed LB Austin Calitro on waivers Friday to make room for DE Marcell Frazier who was claimed off of waivers from the Seahawks.

Calitro, 24, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova last year. Unfortunately, he lasted just a few weeks in New York before he was placed on waivers.

Calitro later signed on with the 49ers but wound up being among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. After a brief stint with the Seahawks, Calitro joined the Browns’ practice squad and returned to Cleveland on a futures deal this offseason.

During his college career at Villanova, Calitro recorded 219 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 26 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and eight pass defenses over the course of 47 games.
