Tom Pelissero reports that the Browns have agreed to a deal withย Mike Priefer for him to be their new special teams coordinator.
Pelissero adds that the Vikings offered him a contract and he also interviewed with the Lions and Falcons with several other teams showing interest.
Priefer, 52, began his coaching career at Navy back in 1994 as a graduate assistant. He worked for a few schools before being hired by the Jaguars as an assistant special teams coach in 2002.
Priefer worked a handful of NFL teams including the Giants, Chiefs and Broncos before the Vikings hired him as their special teams coordinator in 2001.
According to FootballOutsiders, the Vikings’ special teams unit ranked No. 20 in the NFL this season.
