The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing in three free agents for tryouts in the coming days, according to Aaron Wilson.
The full list includes:
- LB Chris Covington
- LB Jan Johnson
- LB Tegray Scales
Covington, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Indiana. He was entering the second year of his a four-year, $2.6 million rookie contract when Dallas cut him coming out of last preseason.
Covington was on and off the Cowboys’ practice squad before eventually being cut loose leading up to this year’s draft.
In 2019, Covington appeared in three games for the Cowboys and recorded two tackles and no other statistics.
Johnson, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in April. He later agreed to a three-year, $2.28 million contract with the Texans.
However, Houston waived Johnson during training camp.
During his two years at Penn State, Johnson recorded 50 tackles, a half sack, an interception, and a pass defense over the course of 14 games.
