Covington, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Indiana. He was entering the second year of his a four-year, $2.6 million rookie contract when Dallas cut him coming out of last preseason.

Covington was on and off the Cowboys’ practice squad before eventually being cut loose leading up to this year’s draft.

In 2019, Covington appeared in three games for the Cowboys and recorded two tackles and no other statistics.

Johnson, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in April. He later agreed to a three-year, $2.28 million contract with the Texans.

However, Houston waived Johnson during training camp.
