ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a league source, reports that the Saints are scheduled to host free agent RB C.J. Spiller on Thursday in New Orleans.
- Earlier in the day, Ian Rapoport reported that the Saints are now “in the mix” for Spiller, while the Cowboys “lurk.“
New Orleans has shed some cap space through several moves, including TE Jimmy Graham to the Sehawks, so Spiller could serve as a solid complement to RB Mark Ingram.
Recent from last week said that Spiller has at least seven teams interested in him including the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Cardinals, 49ers, Redskins and Lions.
Spiller, 27, was limited to appearing in nine games and rushing for 300 yards on 78 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 125 yards receiving and one touchdown.
