According to Bob McManaman, the Cardinals are also negotiating new contracts for LT D.J. Humphries and C A.Q. Shipley.
This comes shortly after the news that Arizona has signed TE Maxx Williams to a two-year extension.
While Humphries hasn’t lived up this draft status, he’s still young and has been a serviceable left tackle for the Cardinals and could draw plenty of interest as an unrestricted free agent next year.
Humphries, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Florida by the Cardinals in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was in the final year of his four-year, $8.912 rookie contract when Arizona picked up his fifth-year option this past May.
Humphries stands to make a base salary of $9,625,000 for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
In 2019, Humphries has appeared in all 10 games and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 47 overall offensive tackle out of 75 qualifying players.
Shipley, 33, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He lasted just over a year with the Steelers before having stints with the Eagles, Colts, and Ravens.
The Cardinals signed him to a two-year contract in 2015, brought him back on another two-year, $3.5 million extension, and then re-signed him to another one-year deal last offseason.
In 2019, Shipley has appeared in all 10 games and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 31 overall center out of 36 qualifying players.
We’ll have more regard potential extensions for Humphries and Shipley as the news is available.
