Cardinals Sign TE Troy Niklas, DE Kareem Martin & WR John Brown

 

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they have signed second-round pick TE Troy Niklas to go along with third-round selections DE Kareem Martin and WR John Brown to four-year contracts on Thursday.

Niklas played three years for Notre Dame, which has quickly become a factory for generating tight end prospects in recent years. He offers great size 6-foot-6 and has shown an ability to be an effective blocker.

The Cardinals really needed some depth at tight end as Rob Housler has been a disappointment and free agent acquisition John Carlson has dealt with numerous injuries.

Martin generated some buzz in the weeks leading up to the draft given that he possess both great size and quickness for an edge-rusher. At North Carolina, he totaled 178 tackles, 44 tackles for loss with 19.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.

Brown is another name to keep an eye during training camp as he could very well be in the competition for one of the team’s receiver spots on their 53-man roster. He posted an impressive forty time of 4.34 and could a real weapon as a kick-returner.
