According to Aaron Wilson, Cardinals worked out defensive linemen on Tuesday including DT Mike Pennel and DL Zach Kerr.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- DL Joel Heath
- DL Zach Kerr
- DT Mike Pennel
- DT Caraun Reid
- DT Anthony Zettel
Pennel, 28, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo back in 2014. He was waived towards the end of 2016 and was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.
The Jets re-signed Pennel to a three-year contract worth up to $12 million in 2018 but New York declined his team-option after one season.ย He signed on with the Patriots back in March but was cut loose in late August.
The Colts brought Pennel in for a workout a few weeks ago but was not signed to a contract.
In 2018, Pennel appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 27 tackles, no sacks an a pass defense.
Kerr, 28, wound up signing on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster in all three of seasons with the Colts.
However, Indianapolis declined to tender him a restricted offer, which allowed him to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent in 2017. The Broncos later signed him to a two-year contract but was cut loose in the last week of August.
Since becoming a free agent, the Lions brought Kerr in for a workout but he left Detroit without a contract.
In 2018, Kerr appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 33 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 73 interior defensive lineman out of 112 qualifying players last season.
