Chiefs, Eagles, Chargers & Patriots Showing “Strongest Early Interest” In LeSean McCoy

Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chiefs, Eagles, Chargers and Patriots are showing the “strongest early interest” in free agent RB LeSean McCoy since he was released.

Rapoport adds that the Chargers are an option because they’re forced to consider other players with Melvin Gordon holding out.

Chiefs GM Brett Veach said Saturday that free agent RB LeSean McCoy is someone they will “take a peek’’ at.

“We play a lot of common opponents and got to see him on tape and he’s still a talented player and does a lot of great things in the pass game,’’ Veach said, per Adam Teicher. “I’m sure he’s a guy we’ll take a peek at and we kind of have a rapport with.’’

McCoy, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2009. After six years in Philadelphia, McCoy was traded to the Bills, who later signed him to a five-year, $40 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed.

McCoy was set to make base salaries of $6 million and $6.075 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Bills released him on Saturday.

In 2018, McCoy has appeared in 12 games for the Bills and rushed for 479 yards on 145 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 29 receptions for 210 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding the Chiefs and McCoy as the news is available.
