Ian Rapoport of NFL Mediaย reports that the Chiefs intend to work on a long-term contract extension for WR Tyreek Hill this offseason.
“No doubt he’s going to be one of the highest-paid, if not the highest-paid receivers in the NFL,” Rapoport said.
Beyond that, the Chiefs are also expected to try to lock up DL Chris Jones to an extension.
Hill, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
In 2018, Hill appeared in 16 games for the Chiefs and caught 87 passes for 1,479 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns to go along with 151 yards rushing and a touchdown. Hill also totaled 213 punt returns and one touchdown.
Jones, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $6.231 million contract and set to make base salaries of $916,476 and $1.19 million over the final two years of he agreement.
In 2018, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Chiefs and recorded 40 tackles, 15.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and five pass defenses.
We’ll have more regarding extensions for both players as the news is available.
