According to Adam Teicher, the Chiefs are close to signing free agent RB Damien Williams to a contract and a deal could be in place at some point Thursday.

  • Terez A. Paylor confirms that the Chiefs are expected to sign Williams.

The Chiefs recently hosted Williams for a visit, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential addition to their backfield.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2014. He finished out the final year of a three-year, $1,535,000 rookie contract before the Dolphins used an original-round restricted tender on him worth $1.797 million for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Williams appeared in 11 games for the Dolphins and rushed for 181 yards on 46 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 20 receptions for 155 yards receiving and one touchdown.
