Chiefs Waive DL T.J. Barnes & S Damariay Drew, Sign CB Keith Baxter

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Friday that they’ve waived DL T.J. Barnes and S Damariay Drew and signed CB Keith Baxter and DT Cam Thomas to contracts.

Barnes, 26, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech back in 2013. he lasted just a few months in Jacksonville before he was waived and later signed to the Jets’ practice squad.

The Bills actually signed him off of the Jets’ practice squad in December of 2015 before placing him on waivers during the preseason last year. Barnes was later claimed by the Jaguars but was, unfortunately, among their final roster cuts at the start of the season.

The Chiefs signed him to their practice squad back in October and eventually promoted him to their active roster.

In 2016, Barnes appeared in five games and recorded one tackle.
