Colts Sign WR Kasen Williams, Waive WR DeAndre Smelter

The Indianapolis Colts announced Friday that they’ve signed WR Kasen Williams to a contract and waived WR DeAndre Smelter.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in May of 2015. He was on and off Seattle’s practice squad before being waived as the team trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit coming out of the preseason.

Williams was claimed off of waivers by the Browns before they elected to cut him loose last year to make room for Corey Coleman and they later re-signed him to their practice squad. Cleveland brought Williams back on a futures contract this past January only to cut him loose a few weeks ago.

In 2017, Williams has appeared in seven games for the Browns and caught nine passes for 84 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
