Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reported that Dallas Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett suffered a high ankle sprain that will cost him anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks depending on his recovery.
So far Bennett hasn’t exactly lived up to the expectations that were set for him but his value to the Cowboys remains unquestioned
“We need him to really excel for us,” said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “He does need to focus and call the Cowboys his priority, but boy can he help us.”
Dallas has used Bennett as a blocking tight end which helped to free up players like Jason Witten who is coming off of a great season. This loss could force Witten to be more of a blocker while Bennett is instead of being Tony Romo’s go to receiver. Thankfully for the Cowboys it’s on a few weeks as high ankle sprains can cost players a good majority of the season depending on their severity.
