Cowboys Placing LT Tyron Smith On Injured Reserve, Promoting Two

According to Todd Archer, the Dallas Cowboys are placing LT Tyron Smith on injured reserve Friday with a knee sprain.

  • The Cowboys are promoting WR Lance Lenoir and OT Kadeem Edwards to their active roster, according to Archer.

Smith has had an injury-filled 2018 season that included back, hip, and groin issues, so it makes sense to shut him down and give him the necessary time to get back to full strength.

Smith, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He signed a ten-year, $109 million contract with Dallas back in 2014 that includes $40 million guaranteed.

Smith was set to make a base salary of $10 million for the 2017 season when he agreed to restructure his salary for cap purposes.

In 2017, Smith appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 19 offensive tackle out of 87 qualifying players.
