Cowboys Sign LB Tim Dobbins, Place Justin Durant On I.R.

David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports that veteran LB Tim Dobbins is now on the Cowboys’ active roster.

  • Helman adds that OLB Justin Durant has been moved to the season-ending injured reserve list to make room for Dobbins.

Charean Williams of Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported earlier in the day that the Cowboys worked out Dobbins, G Jeff Baca, and LB Will Smith.

Dobbins, 31, signed with the Falcons after they sustained some injuries during training camp, but he was ultimately released as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

As for Durant, the expectation was that his 2014 season is over after he suffered torn bicep during Monday night’s loss to the Redskins.

Durant, 29, is in the final year of his two-year, $2.365 million contract and will make a base salary of $1.25 million for the 2014 season.

Heading into Week 9, Durant has recorded 39 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and a recovery over the course of five games. Pro Football Focus has Durant listed as the No. 12 outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense out of 34 qualifying players.
