Packers WR Davante Adams admitted during an interview with Colin Cowherd on Monday that depending on what happens with Aaron Rodgers, it could “potentially” affect his future in Green Bay.
โPotentially. Potentially,โ Adams said when asked if Rodgersโ situation could affect his future. โThatโs my guy. Thatโs the only guy Iโve had other than that 2017 season when he got hurt. Thatโs the only guy that Iโve played with. Weโve built up a special connection over the years that has put us both in really good positions in our career. Not that he needed me to come along for it, because he was already in that spot.
โWeโve established a lot together. It would change a lot, man. It doesnโt mean Iโd be gone, but Iโd definitely have to do some extra thinking if my guy wasnโt here.โ
Adams also made it clear that he stands by Rodgers โ100 percentโ in his dispute with the team.
Green Bay would have their franchise tag available next year if they need it for Adams and could always use it again in 2023. However, their focus is obviously on fixing the situation with Rodgers and ensuring he remains in place as their quarterback moving forward.
Adams, 29, is a former second-round pick out of Fresno State by the Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was in the final year of a four-year, $3.933 million rookie contract when the Packers signed him to a four-year extension worth $58 million.
Adams stands to make a base salary of $12 million for the 2021 season and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
In 2020, Adams appeared in 14 games for the Packers and caught 115 passes for 1,374 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns.
