Eagles Move Back DE Chris Long’s Bonus Again

According to Field Yates, the Eagles have pushed back a $1 million roster bonus due to DE Chris Long until the first day veterans are scheduled to report to training camp.

Long and the team had previously moved the bonus back to after the draft as the veteran defensive end contemplated whether he would return for another season.

This gives Long plenty of time to decide if he will suit up for the Eagles in 2019. He is reportedly on the fence about whether or not to return.

“I’m pretty undecided, but from the looks of things they’re going to make it hard for me in my favorite city,” Long told USA Today’s Jarrett Bell. “We’ll see. In March, I really wanted to play. Now, I don’t know.”

Long, 34, is a former No. 2 overall pick of the Rams back in 2008. He spent eight years with the Rams before he was cut loose in 2016 and later signed a one-year contract with the Patriots.

The Eagles signed Long to a two-year contract in 2018 and he made a base salary of $2.5 million for the 2018 season.

In 2018, Long appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles, recording 23 total tackles, 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
