Jordan Woy, the agent for veteran K Matt Bryant, tells D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlantaย Journal-Constitution that they’ve had discussions with theย Falcons regarding an extension for his client.
โWe have talked and more talks are scheduled,โ Bryant told Ledbetter in an email on Wednesday. โNothing yet, but both sides are working on it.โ
The kickerย market is starting to take off, as the Titans just locked up Ryan Succop to a five-year, $20 million contract and the Colts are reportedly nearing an agreement with Adam Vinatieri on a one-year deal.
Last month,ย Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said Thursday that they plan to discuss a contract extension with Bryant at some point in the near future.
“Matt Bryant is one that we’re going to talk to here soon about what’s going on next season,” Dimitroff said, via ESPN.com. “I think Matt did a heck of a job for us this year. In a lot of ways, he stepped up to the ball and rose to the occasion. I was very proud of him, as I know Dan was. Having a guy who continues to fight age, but he does a very good job with it. He continues to come through for us. He’s an important part.”
Bryant, 42, began his NFL career with the Giants back in 2002. He had stints with the Cowboys, Colts, Dolphins and Buccaneers before eventually signing on with the Falcons in 2009.
Bryant is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.
In 2017, Bryant appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and converted 34 of 39 field goals attempts (87.2 percent) and all 35 extra point tries.
We’ll have more regarding a new contract for Bryant as the news is available.
