The team says the procedure is similar to two other procedures McGary has had during his playing career and he should recover in a similar timeframe.
According to Adam Schefter, that timeframe could be six to eight weeks.
McGary was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia his junior year of high school after he passed out during a basketball game. He had the same procedure three times in college to stabilize his heart, per Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.
McGary, 24, was the No. 31 overall pick by the Falcons out of Washington. Atlanta elected to trade up with the Rams to select him and exchanged their No. 45 and No. 79 overall picks.
According to OverTheCap.com, McGary receives a four-year, $10,265,750 rookie contract including a $5,486,000 signing bonus.
Lance Zeirlein compares him to veteran G Matt Slauson.
McGary started 53 games at Washington and was a two-time first-team All-Pac 12 selection as a right tackle.
