Former Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell announced on Friday that he is retiring from the NFL.
Back in January, Mitchell said he has undergone 10 surgeries on his knee but is still hoping to resume his NFL career. However, it appears that he has decided against continuing.
Mitchell, 25, was taken in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2.917 million contract and spent two years in New England before he was waived by the Patriots last August.
Mitchell wound up sitting out the entire 2018 season.
In 2016, Mitchell appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and caught 32 passes for 401 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
