Free Agent DL Jaye Howard Leaves Bears Visit Without Deal, Planning More Visits

Adam Schefter reports that free agent DL Jaye Howard received an offer from the Bears and passed a physical for the team, but left Chicago without a deal.

According to Schefter, Howard is planning visits with other teams, but the Bears are still an option for him.

Howard, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He lasted just over a year in Seattle before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

Howard re-signed with Kansas City last year andย was in the final year of his two-year, $10 million contractย and set to make a base salary of $3.7 million for the 2017 season when the Chiefs cut him loose.

In 2016, Howard appeared in eight games for the Chiefs and recorded 24 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 55 interior defensive lineman out of 127 qualifying players.
