According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the Giants are hosting free agent DLย Josh Mauro for a visit on Sunday.
Mauro has an obvious tie to the new Giants DCย James Bettcher from their time together with Cardinals.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Mauro to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Mauro, 27, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford back in 2014. He was later waived and re-signed to their practice squad at the start of the regular season.
The Cardinals eventually signed Mauro off of the Steelers’ practice squad and elected to bring him back on an exclusive rights contract before signing him to a two-year, $5.8 million contract last year.
Unfortunately, the Cardinalsย elected to cut him loose last week and he’s nowย testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017, Mauro appeared in 13 games for the Cardinals and recorded 22 tackles, one sack and a pass defense.
