Giants & LB Jon Beason Have Had “Preliminary Talks” Regarding An Extension

Giants LB Jon Beason mentioned that his agent has hadย “preliminary talks” with the team regarding a contract.

โ€œI know itโ€™s something that we both want to get done,โ€ Beasonย said, via theย New York Daily News. โ€œWeโ€™ve expressed interest that they want me back and I told them that we want to be back. The thing about it is, itโ€™s got to work for both parties. Though you anticipate that it will, you never know.”

Beason, 28, came over from Carolina after a mid-season trade sent him to New York for an undisclosed 2014 late-round pick. He finished the season withย 104 tackles and an interception.

Assuming his asking price is reasonable, it seems like there is a chance he could be back with the Giants given that they have an obvious need at middle linebacker.

โ€œSo for me right now itโ€™s a waiting game,” Beason said. “Itโ€™s early. The season is still going on and a lot of things will happen between now and March 11. So all is well. Iโ€™ll be playing ball next year and hopefully Iโ€™m a Giant.โ€
