Giants Still Supportive Of Rookie QB Kyle Lauletta, Despite Recent Arrest

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Giants remain high on rookie QB Kyle Lauletta following his recent arrests for failing to obey orders from police.

Lauletta spent six hours in jail after heย disobeyed a police officer who wanted him to take aย lengthy detour while he was trying to get to the Giants’ facility.

Sources have told La Canfora that Lauletta did not act in a belligerent manner, but admits he should have obeyed the directive from police.ย Lauletta has beenย charged with eluding police and resisting attest and plans to fight the charges.

La Canfora admits thatย Lauletta’s arrest will impact the process of him getting more work with the first-team offense. However, La Canfora adds thatย it’s difficult to see a scenario where Eli Manning plays out the season.

In fact, La Canfora says that the Giantsย continue to explore the possibility of benching Manning this season.

Lauletta,ย 23, was selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft by the Giants. He signed a four-year, $3,167,700 with the Giants and stands to make a base salary of $485,000 for the 2018 season.

During his four-year college career at Richmond, Lauletta threw for 10,465 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 73 touchdowns and 35 interceptions over the course of 40 games.
