According to Adam Schefter, free agent TE Greg Olsen just wrapped up his visit with the Buffalo Bills.
Olsen is now on his way to Washington to meet with the Redskins before heading to Seattle next week to visit with the Seahawks.
Olsen said Monday in an interview with ESPN 1000 that while he hasn’t heard from the Bears, he was hoping that his former team was among the interested teams.
“I’ll be honest in my heart I was hoping they would have been one of the first calls. To my knowledge we have not heard from them. Whether or not they do or not is hard to say,” Olsen said.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Olsen to a contract will not factor into a team’s 2021 compensatory picks, given that he was released.
Olsen, 34, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2007. He played four years for Chicago before he was traded to the Panthers in 2011.
Olsen was in the final year of a four-year, $27.75 million contract when he agreed to a two-year, $17 million extension back in 2018. He was set to make a base salary of $6.6 million for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Olsen appeared in 14 games for the Panthers and caught 52 passes for 597 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
