On Sunday, the New York Jets announced that they’ve completed their interview with Eagles VP of players personnel Joe Douglas for their GM vacancy.
The last remaining interview for the Jets will be Bears executive Champ Kelly in the coming days.
The Jets have also interviewed Scott Fitterer and Terry Fontenot for the job.
Manish Mehta reported last week that Douglas remains the favorite to be hired as the Jets’ next GM.
According to Jason La Canfora, the expectation around the NFL is that Douglas gets the job. Sources have told La Canfora that there was already some contact between the Jets and Douglas prior to his interview being scheduled and “people in other front offices would be shocked if he does not take this job.”
In the event Douglas does not get the Jets’ job, La Canfora says Kelly is viewed as being next in line.
Douglas began working for the Ravens in their personnel department in 2000 and spent 15 years with the organization.
The Bears hired him as their director of college scouting for the 2015 season.
Douglas spent one year in Chicago before joining the Eagles as their vice president of player personnel the following year.
We’ll have more regarding the Jets’ GM search as the news is available.
