Field Yates reports that the Jets brought in free agent DE/OLB John Simon for a visit on Thursday.
The Jets have clearly been in the market for pass rush help, as they’ve already met with Nate Orchard, Charles Tapper, Ryan Delaire and Hau’oli Kikaha.
Simon, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Baltimore before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later signed on to the Ravens’ practice squad.
After Simon played out the 2016 season under a low-round restricted tender, the Colts signed him to a three-year, $14 million contract last year only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
In 2017, Simon appeared in nine games for the Colts and recorded 43 tackles, three sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, and a pass defense.ย Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 55 edge rusher out of 115 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
